The Coffee Your Grandmother Would Approve Of
Before filter coffee became a ritual and instant coffee became a habit, there was Sukku Malli Coffee. A warming, spiced herbal brew made from dry ginger (sukku) and coriander seeds (malli) — two of the most trusted ingredients in traditional Tamil medicine. It doesn't just wake you up. It takes care of you while doing it.
This is the cup that South Indian households reached for on cold mornings, after heavy meals, and whenever the body needed a quiet reset.
What Makes It Special
- Sukku (Dry Ginger) — a powerful digestive and warming agent, known to relieve bloating, nausea, and cold symptoms
- Malli (Coriander Seeds) — cooling, detoxifying, and rich in antioxidants that balance the heat of ginger
- Caffeine-free — all the comfort of a hot drink, none of the jitters or sleep disruption
- Supports digestion — traditionally consumed after meals to aid digestion and reduce acidity
- Natural immunity support — a go-to remedy during seasonal changes, colds, and throat irritation
- No artificial flavours or additives — just two honest ingredients, ground and blended the traditional way
How to Brew
Add 1 teaspoon of Sukku Malli Coffee powder to 200ml of boiling water or milk. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, strain, and sweeten with jaggery or palm sugar for an authentic touch. Drink warm, ideally after meals or before bed.
For a stronger brew, increase the quantity slightly and steep longer. It pairs beautifully with a small piece of palm jaggery on the side.
Rooted in tradition. Brewed with care. The Nattrinai way.
