Tamil Medicine's Most Trusted Skin Healer.
Vetpalai Arisi (வெட்பாலை அரிசி) refers to the seeds of the Vetpalai tree, botanically known as Wrightia tinctoria — commonly called the Pala Indigo Plant or Sweet Indrajao in English. In Tamil Siddha medicine, Vetpalai Arisi is one of the most revered herbs for skin healing, blood purification, and cooling excess body heat. It has been used for centuries in sacred skin treatment rituals in Tamil homes, particularly for stubborn conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and leucoderma.
Rich in natural alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins, it acts as a powerful antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory botanical — used both internally and externally in oils, decoctions, and powders.
Key Benefits
- Skin healing & dermatological care — a powerful remedy for psoriasis, eczema, leucoderma, and fungal infections; reduces itching, scaling, and skin inflammation; stimulates regeneration of healthy skin cells
- Blood purification & detox — helps eliminate toxins and excess heat from the blood; clears skin diseases rooted in impure blood; supports liver function
- Anti-inflammatory & cooling — balances aggravated Pitta dosha and reduces internal heat; relieves skin rashes and burning sensations
- Immune & wound healing support — boosts skin immunity in recurrent infections; speeds up healing of wounds, ulcers, and cracked skin
- Scalp & hair care — traditionally used in Siddha medicated oils (Vetpalai Thailam) for dandruff, scalp infections, and hair health
How to Use
For internal use, mix a small amount of Vetpalai Arisi powder in warm water or as directed by a qualified Siddha practitioner. For external use, mix the powder with coconut oil or sesame oil to form a paste and apply to affected skin areas. Vetpalai-based medicated oils can be safely applied to the scalp and body for psoriasis and eczema.
Perform a patch test before first-time skin application. Internal use must be under the supervision of a qualified Siddha or Ayurvedic practitioner. Not recommended during pregnancy or lactation.
